Proud to announce we are registered with FareShare
Kilcreggan Urban Farm are proud to announce they are now registered with FareShare. This means we can save food from being wasted and treat our animals with good quality fresh fruit and vegetables!
What is FareShare?
The surplus food offered by Tesco and Asda is part of the FareShare Go scheme which was launched by FareShare in partnership with retailers Tesco and Asda which helps charities and community groups to access the free, unsold, surplus food from a day’s sales at your local supermarket. Most of the food available from Tesco and Asda are bakery items such as bread, rolls, pastries etc. as well as fresh produce (fruit and veg) in addition to chilled foods such as meat, fish, ready meals and dairy products. This food will be nearing or on its ‘Best Before’ date however it will be of good quality and perfectly safe to be consumed and served to others. Chilled food with a 'use by' date needs to be frozen on the evening of collection and used within a month. The purpose of the scheme is to support groups who use food to benefit those in our communities in food poverty or the vulnerable.
